My husband and I decided last minute to make a trip up to my parents place for Easter. I wasn't sure how this was all going to turn out since I'm progressively getting bigger and more uncomfortable and we were planning on bringing our dog with us too. The only thing I can really say about the whole trip was that it was amazingly refreshing. All travel went smoothly and once we arrived at the farm well it was bliss. Beautiful weather, good company lots of laughs and baby lambs running around. I'm not over exaggerating either ask any of my family members...well maybe all but my hubby who actually was up there for work...but the times he did get to relax were sweet. I was able to have two dear friends come and visit and spending one on one time with my mom is always a treat. We went consigning for baby boy clothes, ate double cheese burgers, cooked, talked, watched ewes give birth and yelled at our dogs together. Little miss was in heaven just chasing the chickens around the yard! Not to mention she received a huge some what freaky (sorry mom) looking doll that she toted all over the place. It was super fun for her to have her two awesome cousins hanging out with her too...Easter egg hunts aren't so much fun by yourself. Even our dog Dory was happier running all around the yard getting into play fights with my parents' german shepherd Leah. Every night the two of them would plop down on the floor and fall asleep exhausted from the days frolic. Towards the end of our trip we ventured up the turnpike to visit my husband's mom, oldest sister and her family. We surprised them which was so great and packed in some quality time in the short visit. Heather's children were so awesome to our little miss circling around her with toys, a small token of their deep affection. We went out for greek food which I must admit was a huge highlight for me (I know I'm sad but I'm also prego) I ate so much good greek food that my body swelled like a balloon on the way home from all the salt! I didn't take a ton of pictures this trip because I wanted to just mentally soak in all the joy and beauty I was feeling. I learned a few years ago that sometimes just standing still and soaking up the moment can solidify a picture in your mind that will last a life time. But I did take a few digital shots.

Thanks for sharing! It was a VERY special treat for all of us!!
ReplyDeleteLovely surprise. I keep seeing Sophia running down the sidewalk at Heather's with a big grin, her pretty dress flowing, to jump up for a hug.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing it was to see you and the family that weekend! It was really wonderful to spend time on the farm just catching up. The rest of my weekend was busy and hectic, so it really was a get-away. Until next time!
